Environmental research at KTH

Environmental research at KTH provides competence to solve environmental problems or to map the relationships between human activities and the environment. It can also contribute to a revised image of the problems, lead to alternative choices between measures and improve tools for analysis and integration of environmental aspects.

The contribution to a better environment through environmentally directed research is difficult to distinguish from the contribution through ”normal” engineering research and development. The purpose of such research and development is often to enhance efficiency of a process or a product, i.e. to extract more ”utility” with less material and energy. As a consequence, the striving for enhanced efficiency often entails less pollution and less resource use.

KTH is doing research in a broad range of environmental sciences. About 300-400 researchers are performing research, which is environmentally relevant. In the catalogue Environmental and work sciences at KTH 1997 you can find information about projects. In KTH in your pocket you can search for environmental science research projects.
